Privacy
We sell you a computer that keeps your life off other people's servers. Collecting a pile of data about you would rather undercut that.
Last updated 6 August 2026
The short version
- What lives on your machine — messages, photos, files — is yours. We don't read it, scan it, or train anything on it.
- We keep the minimum needed to sell you the machine and keep it running: your email, your billing address, and how the machine is doing.
- We don't sell or share personal information, we run no advertising, and there are no third-party trackers on this site.
That is a summary. The sections below are the actual commitments.
Who we are
Self Host Place LLC operates selfhost.place and the service that provisions and maintains the computers sold here. We are responsible for the personal information described on this page. Reach us at support@selfhost.place.
What we collect
- Order and account details. Your email address, the plan you chose, and the name you give your machine. Your billing address and payment details go to our payment processor — we receive the billing address, the country, the last four digits and the card brand, never the full card number.
- Your machine's metadata. Its address (subdomain), size, region, uptime, and health and capacity readings such as disk and memory use. This is what tells us your machine needs attention before you notice.
- Support messages. Whatever you send us, and our replies.
- Basic request logs. IP address, timestamp and path, kept short-term for security, abuse prevention and rate limiting.
There are no advertising trackers, no session recording and no third-party analytics on this website.
What's on your machine
Your messages, posts, photos and files live on your own machine, not in a shared pile with everyone else's. We do not read them, index them, scan them for advertising, or use them to train any model.
We do hold administrative credentials for the machines we operate. That is unavoidable — it is how software gets installed, certificates get renewed and a broken service gets restarted without you opening a terminal. We use that access only to keep your machine running and patched, to act on a support request you made, to stop something actively harmful, or where the law requires it. Access is logged.
If you would rather nobody held those keys, self-hosting on hardware you own yourself is a legitimate answer, and the guide says so.
How long we keep it
- While you are a customer: your account and machine details, for as long as the machine exists.
- After you cancel: a final snapshot of your machine for 30 days, then destruction of the machine and the snapshot.
- Invoices and transaction records: up to seven years, because tax and accounting rules require it. This includes the app-referral records described in the disclosures.
- Request logs: 30 days.
Your choices
Email support@selfhost.place and we will, without charging you and without asking why:
- tell you what we hold about you
- give you a copy, including a full archive of your machine
- correct anything wrong
- delete your account and destroy your machine
Depending on where you live, US state privacy laws may give you these rights formally, along with the right not to be discriminated against for using them. We apply them to everyone rather than checking your state first. We do not sell or share personal information, so there is nothing to opt out of.
How we protect it
Traffic to this site and to your machine is encrypted in transit. Our control-plane database — the one holding orders and machine records — is encrypted at rest, and the credentials for your machine are held on a separate, restricted system rather than alongside the public website. Access is limited to the people who operate the fleet.
If you find a security problem, email support@selfhost.place with "security" in the subject and we will get back to you.
Children
This service is sold to adults and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect their information. What your family does on your own machine is yours to decide.
Changes
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we will email customers before it takes effect and update the date at the top. The previous version stays available on request.
Self Host has not opened for sales yet. This page describes how things will work when it does and may change before then; the version that applies to a purchase is the one published here on the day of that purchase. Questions: support@selfhost.place.
